When it comes to weddings anything goes these days, but there are some people who believe a wedding should be traditional and stick to certain rules and guidelines. Granted, these people are usually over the age of 65, but nonetheless they still have some valid points.
A traditional reception with a sit down dinner, speeches, first dance and the allocated time slot for the cutting of the cake might sound over the top but many weddings are still held in this fashion as it makes the bride and groom feel as though they’ve lived the ‘real’ wedding experience.
However, some couple may be astonished if a guest was to ask which table they were sat on. Some couples abandon the whole traditional wedding idea and fill the day with things they love. They may not even have a sit down dinner, most weddings these days are stand up cocktail-esque events where guests are free to mill around the space as they choose snacking on canapes and filling up on drinks as the waiters bring them around.
Modern receptions also won’t have formal speeches from the briday party, perhaps the bride and groom will say thank you for coming or something along those lines, but nothing formal will be set. A modern reception often helps couples feel at ease and less stressed on the day.
Doing things their way can make life that little bit easier. Modern ceremonies and receptions also include the use of wedding lanterns at the end of the evening to celebrate the couple’s love for each other, whereas a traditional ceremony would perhaps use something similar to doves or maybe butterflies.
