Wearing white on your wedding day may seem like the only way to go, especially if you want a traditional wedding. However some women feel that white is misleading as it’s meant to be virginal and let’s face it, there are plenty more women nowdays who aren’t that way inclined on their wedding day. So it’s becoming more popular for brides to pick a dress that will make them feel beautiful and in some cases it means in a coloured wedding gown.
Who could forget the gorgeous wedding dress Carrie wore in the Sex and the City movie? Her bridesmaids were equally as stunning, and yes, although there was a lot of white-ish colour there, it was ivory with turquoise and didn’t it look fabulous? Everything from the head peice to the shoes was perfect, and it would help if Vera Wang gave us a free wedding dress too I suppose, but hey it was a movie! We’re all allowed to dream!
Some brides are opting for a black wedding dress and putting their bridesmaids in white, it creates a very dramatic effect and makes for marvellous photographs. I think if you were someone that couldn’t wear white well, I would look into going completely left of centre and going for big bold colours and make a real statement on your wedding day.
You can then have a coloured theme and have all your decorations such as chairs, tables, wedding lanterns, flowers and so on themed to the colours of your choice and make it a colourful wedding people will remember for years to come.
