It was a hard enough task choosing the actual bridesmaids let alone their dresses! A common statement often heard coming from the stressed out mouth of the bride to be only weeks before her wedding. But choosing flattering dresses for your bridesmaids doesn’t have to be a tiresome task. Sure, if you have chosen high maintenance drama queens as your bridesmaids then yes, you may have difficulty here.

But assuming your judgement is sound, you should have picked some very level headed women who will follow your every direction including the one on what to wear on YOUR big day. You need to ensure the bridesmaids understand your wedding day is all about you not them. You do not want to hear them moaning about their dress, all eyes should be on you, you are the bride afterall. So if you haven’t picked your bridesmaids yet, make sure you choose women who will not want to steal your limelight.

However, you can always make everyone happy with the dress selection and include the bridesmaids in all aspects of the decision making process when it comes to their dresses. Now it’s your call as to what colour they are and how low cut they are but remember the bridesmaid must feel comfortable in her dress or she will look hideous and probably ruin your wedding photos. We don’t want that now, do we. So ensure she is happy with the final product, she can’t moan about the colour but she can and should let you know if the cut doesn’t suit her body shape.

Ensure the dress is easy to move in as she will probably be helping you with tasks that require moving her hands above her head such as releasing wedding lanterns or making toasts or catching your bouquet! Once you have decided on the colour and cut of the dress ask her to try it on and ask her how she feels in it, work with her to come up with a solution if there are any problems. Don’t listen to her if she says it’s too conservative, you want all eyes on you, not her.
