Elizabeth Taylor and her first husband Conrad Hilton

There’s one name in Hollywood that sums up the term ’serial wedding fiend’ and it’s none other than the lovely Elizabeth Taylor.  Known for her acting skills and beauty, she is also affectionately known as the women with many marriages under her belt.

Born in London to American parents, Elizabeth spent her younger years learning ballet and enjoying her youth in one of the biggest cities in the world. Shortly after the second world war Elizabeth and her parents moved back to America and settled in Hollywood. It was there that Elizabeth’s career as an actress really took off. She was best known for her work in National Velvet with Mickey Rooney as a child star and in Cleopatra as an adult actress.

But it was her constant stream of marriges that were talked about the most, Elizabeth managed eight marriages to seven different men. She married Richard Burton twice. So here at Wedding Wish Lanterns, we think that she must know a thing or two about weddings as she’s had so many. We’re pretty sure she didn’t have any wedding lanterns launched, perhaps if she had she would still be married to her first husband Conrad Hilton. Although only being 18 at the time probably had something to do with the divorce, she married so young!

The gown at her first wedding was glorious, $1,500 satin wedding gown given to her as a gift by MGM studios, and she truly did look spectacular. She probably got used to the idea of looking stunning and glamorous every day so maybe she thought getting married as much as possible would enable her to look stunning and glamous as much as possible! Who knows, but she suits those wedding gowns that’s for sure.
