If the children misbehave, scream or throw a tantrum in the middle of a ceremony it can certainly affect the romantic mood of the situation and in some cases really ruin the moment, so it’s no wonder so many brides are requesting their special days be child-free so they can enjoy the moment with no interruptions.  

Now, I was talking to a couple of other people who were invited to the “no kids wedding” and they were really hurt and upset that they couldn’t bring their kids. What do you think? One woman actually said, “children make a wedding”. Now I don’t know how many child-free weddings this lady had been to, but it was my educated guess that it wasn’t many.

I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed the child-free weddings much more than the ones that are riddled with rowdy boys and girls getting their fingers into the cake and causing havoc at the present table. I once saw a little girl tear up most of the couple’s wedding lanterns much to their dismay.

It comes down to this really, whatever the bride wants, she gets. It’s her special day and no one can argue with her about any of the decisions she makes about her wedding day.

So if you want to bring your kids to a child-free wedding, my advice is to suck it up and find a babysitter. Arguing about it with the bride will only make her feel uncomfortable and you don’t want to start anything with her special day right around the corner.

Planning a wedding is never easy, there’s just so much to think about and as soon as you think it’s ok to breathe again, along comes another idea to sort out! So it’s no wonder so many brides fill their heads with

A great idea for the wedding reception is to have wedding lanterns released at the end of the night, it would be such a special moment for you both to enjoy with your guests. Most people say their goodbyes in a circle at the end of the reception, but you could actually all stand outside and have your guests release the lanterns with you then as they float away into the sky you and your partner could leave the reception at the same time. It could be a effective exit that not many other brides and grooms would have done!

Another impressive reception ideas is to have a dessert table with the wedding cake displayed on it for all to see. The guests will adore the sweets, have a selection of old school treats such as brownies and rocky road along with cup cakes and vases filled with jelly beans and marshmallows! Not only will it add a touch of sweetness to the room it will look absolutely glorious! Your guests will be more than impressed with this one.

Installment 9 (the ultimate fairytale wedding) of Wedding Wish Lanterns’ (that’s me) unique wedding ideas series

Some have been pinnacle moments- who could forget David Furnish and Elton John’s ceremony, one of the first of its kind- others have re-defined tradition- Elizabeth Hurley with her double, multi-cultural ceremonies, for instance- and others have played out our own fantasies before us (I’m thinking more of the Brad Pitt/ Jennifer Aniston fairytale at this point rather than the barbie doll, sparkle saturated, cinderella affair that was the Andres’).

Celebrity weddings are the icing on society’s celeb culture cake, as it were. They hold a fascination for us regular folk because they are symbolic of everything that celebrity means and entails, they are the culmination of the celebrity plot- the point where Mr and Mrs Perfect (who we’ve been tracking for years) officially profess their love and walk off into the studio lit sunset. They are the chance for the already radiantly shiny to shine even more and blind us all in the process. Our ultimate fantasy wedding played out on the big screen so to speak.

Sure, not all celebrities make it into the glossy pages of  ‘OK” or ‘Hello’- Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s do seemed to have scuttled by relatively unnoticed- but they still cause our ears to prick, and our hearts to beat just that little bit faster…. So, what better way to satisfy our appetite for celebrity than to gather up their wedding stories and pop them all in the same place, this blog?
